Mid Semester Progress

  1. 1. Massing diagram could go a bit further. It is a good first step in setting out the general divide of spaces but now I think it is time to insert the other - smaller spaces into it as well. Again, I will recommend at looking at OMA's programmatic diagrams, they prove rather useful.
    2. A site plan as an underlay would help place your massings on site and would help us understand how it relates to the site as for us who are not so familiar with the it. Also, a site plan that shows, access, micro-climate, height differentiation, etc. is a crucial bit of information , I am not sure if you have done a project specific one, if you have please refer me to it.
    3. If the shapes that you are using in your diagrams are starting to form the architectural language than you might want to rethink a few of them, i.e. the retail spaces; they are a bit unwelcoming from the inside.
    4. Your program -diagram needs to be more of a visual diagram rather than one I have to read through. This can be one main image and include your massings (refer to point no.1).
    5. Another useful piece of imagery would be a collage that incorporates all your activities and concept in one strong image. Your concept needs to be able to come across loud and clear without too much explaining.
Hope my commentary proves helpful in what seems to be a very promising project. Keep up the good work.

  2. Example of spatial - programmatic diagrams. It could be as simple as this one - but it just makes your intention so much clearer.
